Vladimir Gorbachuk is a senior instructor at the Centre of Eastern Culture, Health and Martial Arts Orient in Moscow.
He strarted with judo in 1974, then also practiced karate and wushu. He is a certified wushu instructor and worked as a wushu trainer at the Academic and Research Centre for Alternative Methods of Health Improvement under the State Committee of Sports of the USSR. He was a leading trainer at the Martial Arts department of the Russian-American University.
In 1994 Vladimir started practicing the Vietnamese martial art Nyat Nam under the supervision of professor Ngo Suan Bin, the Head of the Nyat Nam School.
Nyat Nam is a kind of martial arts, typical for South-Eastern Asia. Its native land is Vietnam.
Nyat Nam comprises traditional for Eastern martial arts sets of exercises:
- for developing coordination,
- for improving flexibility and agility,
- for improving concentration and reaction,
- for strengthening the musculoskeletal system,
- for developing skills of self-defence.
The name "Nyat Nam" can be translated in several ways:
"Nyat" means connection, unity; Nam – southernly direction, southern land.
Besides, "Nam" denotes numbers favorable for a person according to the eastern theory of numbers. Nhat Nam is one of the oldest traditional Vietnamese martial art schools.
Nyat Nam has its own distinctive features:
- exercises comprise many health-improving elements based on the deep knowledge of human physiology,
- in exercises, special modes of breath good for blood supply in the body and metabolism are used,
- the regime of performing exercises is of a rehabilitation character and helps restoring functionality after traumas.
Nyat Nam classes are methodologically regulated and built in a well-ordered scheme:
- warm-up including exercises of light and medium intensity for improving blood circulation in major muscle groups,
- specific breath exercises for providing blood oxygen saturation,
- technical sets comprising the basic technical elements and junctions,
- exercises in pairs, performed with all due precautions in the tempo and with the concentration complying with the level of the students,
- specific breath exercises for relaxation, releasing tension and normalize physiology after exercise.
