DARIA BUZOVKINA

RUSSIA
technique, yoga

Daria Buzovkina graduated from Moscow Academic Choreography School (1993-1998). She studied various techniques of contemporary dance, improvisation, CI and composition at Russian and international masterclasses by the leading performers and teachers: Emio Greco, Jodi Melnick, Wim Vandekeybus, Fiona Millward, David Zambrano and others.

As a student, Daria participated in performances of the Tabakerka Theatre, worked at the Kremlin Ballet.

Since 1999 she has participated as a dancer and choreographer in all works of the Kinetic Dance Theatre, in performances of Minima Project and Po.V.S.Tanze Dance Company.

Apart from her new collaborative project Ohne Zucker, she choreographs and performs independent works. She teaches contemporary dance at the Chamber Ballet Moskva, at the Summer Dance School TSEH, etc.

Daria creates choreography for dance companies and schools (the Chamber Ballet Moskva (Russia), Quadro dance group (Belarus), Mionzi dance company (Tanzania, with Taras Burnashev), etc.).

Some of her latest projects are When the Dog Disobeys (with Inna Aslamova, Belarus) and Just Lie (created for and together with students of Dance College in Outokumpu, Finland).

Daria has a rich teaching experience: she gave classes for dancers of the Chamber Ballet Moskva in 2001-2008, yearly masterclasses and labs at the Summer Dance School TsEKh (2001 - now), release, improvisation, CI and composition classes at the State Art School for children, and was invited as a teacher to summer dance schools in Lithuania and Estonia, and to North Karelia Dance College (Finland) as a teacher and choreographer.

Technique
The technique is based on release technique, which means releasing certain muscle groups and using only the necessary ones, and thus better understanding your body, its physical, psychological and mental scope and vary choreography.

The object of study includes anatomic details: bone structure, muscular, respiratory and nervous systems, sometimes offered as themes at the beginning of the class with their further elaboration in exercises and an opportunity to use them in practice (in the dance combinations in the final part of the class). Major attention is paid to the three basic programs essential for contemporary dance: balance, articulation (impulse, inertia), gravitation (centre of gravity, work with your weight), and, as a consequence, to parterre technique (work with the floor), techniques of falling and shifting balance. If needed, the abovementioned work can be presented in group exercises and in pairs.

Yoga
Ashtanga Vinyasa, or dynamic yoga, is one of the branches of Hatha Yoga. The object of study is asanas (specific postures referring to balance, strength, stamina, flexibility) and pranayama (a breath technique). Special attention is paid to vinyasas (linking of the movement to the breath).

Vinyasas demand muscular effort. It improves strength, stamina and coordination. Yoga implies health improvement, energizing, change, resignation and, as a result, self-enrichment.

NB! For this class students are supposed to bring mats.
